I will never attend a show in the flats! I will only go to a clubs with a good owner or manager. The View, Mercury, Spy, Cloud Nine, etc. Never would have this problem with those people. This was a first event for me and turned into a disaster by the end of the night. I learned a couple of things...

Family is WAY more important than a stupid show
I love being a dj
Mad respect for promoters
Mad respect for Cosmic Gate
I hate the flats and will always hate it.(Lucic's in general)
Cleveland still has a GREAT SCENE.
Jason Allen and Cubby are far from thieves.
I should have been better prepared

I agree, but this was my first huge event and last. Learned a lot of things and will never apply those to my life again. This was definitely not bad for a first event: 5 stages(one too many), decent sound, and 300 people. Dont really care, just dissapointed in all of my hardwork being thrown out the window. No money, no tables, and uneccesary problems.

The reason I respect Cosmic Gate so much is that they knew this was my first event and gave me advice for future events. Really cool guys and enjoyed it very much.

By the way...as far as people not spinnin tt's anymore. There's a reason behind that for the people that fly in from out of country.

Indeed. People who travel on airplanes don't like to check in luggage because it tends to get lost and there have been real problems with people in airports scavanging record boxes and even stealing them off luggager racks. Additionally, a record box means that it better be accompanied by a work permit to enter the country. Also add to that the djs who play mostly unreleased tunes.

Wow. What a set up! Spinning out on that patio was a fucking trip!!! It was so intense. There was mass confusion at the begining but once everything got a bit sorted it was a pretty good time.
Suckily though one of the tables we were using was seriously messed, but its all good we made do.
Its really a shame all of that drama went down. I definitely think you should press charges.

I was not at this event and I am sorry for all parties involved that it did not go well. On the other hand, all of this negative talk about this event and Cleveland in general is just not good for our scene as it is re-building. This is the exact type of bad PR that hurts shows and promoters that have been in business and producing massive shows for years. This is not how Cleveland is for all of you out-of-towners reading this board. We really do bring the noise hard in this city with top tier events and acts that come through. Lucics and that whole area of clubs are not where events in the EDM industry usualy take place. Most of you all know that the big shows come to Metropolis, Cloud 9, Touch, and some other locations....BUT NOT LUCICS, BEACHCOMERS, and the VIP!!!!!!

Anyway, I am not trying to plug this event because people already know about it. I just want to refresh peoples thoughts about Cleveland and this scene in general.

.... good to know that only certain clubs/promoters are capable of throwing "big shows". Obviously some people are inconsiderate, whereas others are big heads.

Welcome reminder, IMHO!

I'm with Mellon and the East Bank comments...

In defense, however, from what Cubby told me the Cosmic Gate show wasn't all negative. 300 people were there. A lot of people were getting down on the patio - there were technical difficulties that happen from time to time especially arising from playing on a wooden deck - but the sound was good and people were actually doing their jobs.

The comments I heard from a lot of people of no one dancing in the main room, really doesn't suprise me though. The biggest problem, is that a lot of the time people will only dance for the headliner and this happens FREQUENTLY. A lot of people need to learn that this happens regularly and that it is usually in the best interest of a promoter (especially when trying to attract a variety of people) to program a room to teach people about different styles of music while appealing to people who will dance to what a local is playing and at what time of the night they will dance to it.

Thats what I am talking about. Not only for Chunk, but for all up-coming Cleveland shows. I feel that this city is on the up and up and one little thing like this can effect it if we do not address it (Which we are).

NLE SPYRAL, my apologies. I was typing so fast I did not stop and think about every venue that holds quality events. SPY BAR as well!

It's good to remind Mellon that he isn't the only one in town doing shows - building a succesful scene is actively ackwnoleging each other's accomplishments and not repeating and dwelling on their past mistakes Wink

Unless of course you determine someone NEVER learns from or acknowleges their mistakes - and sometime I think we have a lot of shortbus people here in Cleveland Wink
